Prepping Picture Frame Molding

One Room Challenge, Week 3

It’s Week 3 of the Fall One Room Challenge and it feel like our progress is moving at a snail’s pace!  This is the stage of the challenge when I start wondering if we are going to be able to pull it off but I KNOW we can!  I have paint fatigue for sure!  I am on the third coat of paint for this switch up below the chair rail.  I know it’s going to be worth it because it already looks so much lighter and brighter in the room!

If you will recall from last week, Doug and I both poopooed the chair rail being the same color as the wall color.  I know many people color drench with great success but it just isn’t going to work in this room.  This will be Doug’s office and he needs a lot of light, practically to see with and also for his state of mind.  He’s a happy camper on a sunshiny day so I want him to enjoy this space we are working so hard to make his own.

So, my Week 3 report is.....we painted and painted.  We are adding a trim piece above the chair rail to help achieve a very clean line and to give that trim detail a little more oomph. We also have to paint the picture fame molding. It had to be primed first so it would accept the paint.

We adjusted our workstation so that I could paint the trim and the walls and Doug could work on the picture frame molding.  We purchased premade picture frame molding from Lowes.com to help make this job easier for us.  I had no idea that it came premade and seeing what is available in the store has me dreaming up another project, but don’t tell Doug!😂  I believe his patience is getting a little thin with all the new ideas I’m coming up with while working on my old ideas.  I keep reminding him that this project is for him. Everytime we bring it back down to reality, I can see his eyes light up!  He is getting excited about having an office to call his own. 😊

S️tay tuned for next week when hopefully the painting will be wrapped up and we will have this molding installed. I’m hoping to give you a review of how it is to use the premade moldings.  I think it’s going to be gamechanger!
