Finishing the Molding & Other Fun Stuff

First up is this sweet little jacket that Doug’s dad got him when he was in Vietnam. It was very dirty and so I wanted to clean it with a special cleanser that is used for vintage embroidery items. Look how dirty this jacket was! Besides being worn by Doug, it’s been moved and stored for years. I was very worried about the colors in the embroidering running when it got wet, but it turned out amazing!  I highly recommend this Engleside Restoration Cleaner. When I got the jacket wet, the water immediately turned brown and I was so worried the colors were running, but I had faith and it looks so good! 

The other thing that happened this week that is exciting is that when I was figuring out the placement of the picture frame molding, I decided to take it a step further and find all the studs so nailing would be a breeze.  I found the studs and marked an x on my painters tape where the nail should go. I wanted to save my picture frame moldings from having a mark on them and I didn’t want to have to be doing a lot of touching up.

After we nailed the molding to the wall, I left those pieces of tape up so I could fill the holes right over the tape.  Then when I took the tape away, voila, no mess to clean up, sand or repaint!  Now I may just need to put a dab of paint over the hole, but nothing serious.
